Mentoring Program Outline
Your True Course Ministries mentoring program is designed to be a completely customizable experience of unparalleled personal growth, developed through a collaborative effort between you and your True Course professional. True Course wants to help you excel as a minister and throughout your life in ministry. In addition to any personalized elements that you may choose to include, your plan will feature:
- Complimentary Consultation
- Face-to-face meeting with a True Course professional
- Overview of the True Course mentoring experience
- Discussion of your individual concerns or questions
- Work together with a True Course professional to develop your basic needs assessment
- Getting Started: Beginning your Mentoring Program
- Solidify an agreement for your mentoring experience
- In-depth discussion of your needs with your mentor
- Collaborate and strategize with your mentor to outline the goals for your True Course experience
- Your True Course Process: Basic Principles
- On-going program principles and communication with your mentor, including:
- In-person meetings with your mentor 2-4 times a month
- Mentoring sessions that are conducive to your needs, schedule, and current clergy environment
- Ongoing adherence to and evaluation of program needs and outline
- Final evaluation
- Your Mentor’s Role and Responsibilities
- Support you through face-to-face meetings, and phone and email accessibility in between sessions; web and video conferencing are also available
- Observe you in person and in the context of your ministry situations
- Help you link theory and practice, making growth a reality
- Facilitate the formation of focus and/or support groups among your peers, as needed
- Periodically evaluate your progress and make any necessary adjustments
- Offer a source of accountability and encouragement
- Demonstrate utmost respect and confidentiality for you as a growing individual and part of the clergy
- Your Role and Contributions-Through your True Course mentoring experience and regular meetings and correspondence with your mentor, you will learn to:
- Develop your critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities
- Gather essential, problem-solving information
- Evaluate the effectiveness of various methods of ministry
- Experiment with ministry concepts and growth ideas for your congregation and staff
- Explore ideas and ways to improve situations within your congregation and among your staff
- Deepen your levels of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and improve your social interaction with others in the church setting and in your personal life
- Reflect on your spiritual experiences and the outcome of your intentional growth and ministry goals
